3 Tips For Painting Concrete

3 Tips For Painting Concrete

Use masonry paint when painting concrete.

Painting concrete is a little more complicated than painting a wall. Paint behaves very differently when it applied to concrete than drywall. If you are planning on painting a concrete surface, here are a few tips that will help you achieve the best results possible!

Keep The Surface Clean

Before you paint concrete, you need to ensure that the surface is thoroughly cleaned. There is a vast variety of cleaners available on the market that you can choose from. You want to be sure to remove any grass, dirt, and other forms of debris on the surface before you begin painting to achieve the best results. If the surface is filthy, you may want to consider using a power washer to assist you. Also, be sure to remove old paint that is chipping before you begin applying the new coat of paint.

Seal The Surface

After you have thoroughly cleaned the concrete surface, you want to seal it. By painting concrete, you are helping to prevent mold from moisture build up. After you have finished sealing the concrete, you also need to prime it before painting. The primer will help to smooth out any bumpiness or chips in the surface.

The Type Of Paint

When you have prepared your concrete, now you are ready to paint. You want to be sure to use a masonry paint. This type of paint helps to prevent cracks.
